Miss Ridley was my Year 1 teacher way back in the day. A lovely gentle lady, her signature outfit hand knit twinsets, pearls and a tweed skirt. Miss Ridley taught us Design and Technology otherwise known as Knitting. Yellow wool, 30 stitches on plastic needles, the squeak has me cringing even now. No matter the quality of wool the dropped stitches, the extra stitches and the holes in that work of art it was my first taste of a craft that still remains an important part of my life.
